National Project Coordinator

About the role

FAO Kyrgyzstan is implementing the GCF‑funded project “Carbon Sequestration through Climate Investment in Forests and Rangelands (CS‑FOR)”. The National Project Coordinator will provide operational leadership, ensure alignment with the project’s climate‑resilient objectives, and act as the main liaison between FAO, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, Operational Partners and other UN agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day project implementation and ensure compliance with the Operational Partners Agreement.
• Coordinate with the FAO Representative, Lead Technical Officer, International Forestry Specialist and other technical advisors.
• Facilitate communication and partnership with government ministries, NGOs, UN agencies and other stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress, prepare reports and support decision‑making for climate‑investment activities in forests and rangelands.
• Support institutional development for low‑carbon, climate‑resilient economic pathways.

Required profile

• University degree in natural resource management, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, climate change, economics or a related field.
• Significant experience in coordinating international development projects, preferably within UN or FAO contexts.
• Demonstrated knowledge of climate mitigation and adaptation strategies, carbon sequestration, and sustainable land management.
• Proven ability to work with multi‑stakeholder environments and navigate governmental procedures.
