Diagnostics & Laboratory Specialist – GHS Project

About the role

The Diagnostics and Laboratory Specialist will support the Diagnostics and Laboratory Advisor in strengthening the laboratory diagnostic network of the GHS project in Kyrgyzstan. The role involves technical guidance, capacity building, and coordination with national health and agriculture ministries.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical input and guidance to the laboratory and diagnostics component of the project.
• Collaborate with national Technical Working Groups to develop and update laboratory guidelines and SOPs.
• Lead planning and conduct TWG meetings and partner coordination sessions.
• Design, develop, and implement training programs for laboratory specialists across human, animal, and environmental health sectors.
• Deliver on‑site technical assistance, trainings, and workshops to improve biosafety, biosecurity, and genomic surveillance capabilities.
• Prepare training materials, SOPs, and support procurement, distribution, and maintenance of laboratory supplies and instruments.
• Assist project management in preparing work plans, presentations, and reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in medicine, biological sciences, or a related clinical/diagnostic discipline.
