Full-Stack Developer (React, Next.js, AWS)

About the role

Fluence is looking for a pragmatic, security-minded Full-Stack Developer to build and scale its B2B products used by clinicians, researchers and organisations in psychedelic-assisted therapy and mental health. You will work closely with and report to the Senior AI & Design Lead, turning product requirements into robust, secure and well-documented applications and maintaining existing ones.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack web applications using React and Next.js.
• Architect reliable, performant backends and APIs; AWS experience is important (Bedrock and CloudTrail a plus).
• Implement secure authentication, authorization and role-based access for clinician, admin and other user workflows.
• Design data models and flows with privacy, auditability and regulatory considerations in mind.
• Integrate with internal and external APIs and third-party services, and implement LLM/AI features in production with guardrails, logging and security.
• Log, monitor performance and ship production-quality code; Datadog and Sentry experience is a plus.
• Maintain clear documentation of architecture, decisions and interfaces, and optionally use Convex or similar BaaS platforms and n8n workflows for automation.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience as a full-stack or frontend-heavy engineer.
• Solid understanding of web security best practices (OWASP, secure storage, encryption, secrets management).
• Experience in healthcare, education or compliance-heavy environments is a plus.
• Excellent async communication, code ownership and comfort working with a small, senior-led team.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in React, Next.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with AWS for production workloads.
• Familiarity with logging, monitoring and observability tools.

Candidates must complete a take-home assignment (a tool-lending app built with Next.js, Clerk, Convex and self-hosted n8n) and submit it by email with their portfolio and GitHub repository, including a short note on a security or privacy consideration. The process includes a technical and product interview, and successful candidates receive a 6-month contract with potential renewal.
