Senior/Lead/Chief AI Engineer

About the role

EPAM is seeking an experienced AI Engineer who loves tackling complex systems, debugging stubborn issues, and delivering usable products. You will use AI‑driven coding agents to accelerate development, shape architecture, and improve team efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Take a goal from concept to production, delivering features, validated architectures, or AI workflows.
• Deploy and manage coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) for code exploration, feature implementation, testing, debugging, and code review.
• Configure and extend agent harnesses with context, skills, specialized agents, hooks, tools, execution environments, and feedback loops.
• Integrate agents with real repositories and engineering pipelines, and measure impact to promote adoption.

Required profile

• Proven experience shipping and maintaining production software, with strong debugging and architectural skills.
• Daily hands‑on use of coding agents and deep understanding of their capabilities, limitations, and failure modes.
• Experience building or customizing agent harnesses, including skills, hooks, tool integrations, and state management.
• Outcome‑focused mindset: turning open‑ended goals into actionable steps and taking ownership of results.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or equivalents.
• Experience with cloud platforms and certifications (GCP, Azure, AWS).
• Strong software engineering skills in languages commonly used with AI tooling (e.g., Python, Java, C++).
