Lead AI Engineer – .NET & LLM Integration

About the role

EPAM is looking for a Lead AI Engineer to own the architecture and delivery of AI‑based features for measurement products. You will work on natural‑language query, summarisation, intelligent validation, exception handling and workflow assistance, integrating with a model gateway, prompt registry, retrieval services and vector stores.

Key responsibilities

• Design and ship AI features such as RAG pipelines, multi‑step prompting and agentic flows while ensuring auditability and human‑in‑the‑loop patterns.
• Establish reusable AI feature patterns, evaluation discipline, golden datasets and regression checks.
• Lead and mentor a small engineering team, taking accountability for their work and cost, latency and reliability management.
• Integrate with platform services (model gateway, prompt registry, vector stores, embedding pipelines) and instrument telemetry via Application Insights and Serilog.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in .NET (C#) and/or Python with lead‑level ownership of AI feature architecture.
• Proven track record shipping LLM‑based features to production, including tool/function calling, structured outputs and streaming.
• Strong judgment on where AI adds product value and ability to work with cross‑functional stakeholders.

Required skills

• .NET (C#) and Python development
• Azure OpenAI / Azure AI Foundry, OpenAI or Anthropic APIs
• SQL, API integration, Azure DevOps Wiki documentation
• Experience with vector stores, embedding pipelines, retrieval‑augmented generation, and LLM observability
• Use of AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude
