Senior Data Engineer, AI

About the role

EPAM is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with AI expertise to design and implement intelligent AI workflows that combine models, enterprise data, and business logic into reliable, production‑ready solutions. You will work closely with data scientists and business stakeholders to deliver secure, transparent, and compliant AI services.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build AI workflows that integrate models, prompts, enterprise data, tools, and business logic.
• Create and maintain prompt‑engineering processes, including versioning, testing, and optimization.
• Develop and operate multi‑step orchestration layers for reasoning, decision‑making, and action execution.
• Embed AI capabilities into enterprise systems, APIs, and user interfaces.
• Apply guardrails to ensure secure, transparent, and compliant AI behavior.
• Design and sustain production‑grade AI deployment pipelines (MLOps) with focus on scalability, latency, and cost efficiency.
• Implement monitoring and observability for usage, performance, drift, and failures.
• Establish change‑control, versioning, rollback, and release‑management practices.
• Collaborate with data scientists and business experts to validate model outputs and translate experiments into production solutions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of software development experience with a solid engineering foundation.
• Hands‑on experience building AI workflows that merge models, prompts, and enterprise data.
• Proficiency in prompt‑engineering, versioning, testing, and optimization.
• Experience constructing production‑grade AI pipelines, MLOps, and deployment automation.
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, drift detection, and failure handling for AI systems.
• Understanding of change‑control, versioning, and release‑management practices.
• Ability to quickly learn new platforms and tools.
• Experience with large‑scale enterprise data ecosystems.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
