Water Pump Station Operator

About the role

The Water Pump Station Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a municipal water pump station. This position ensures continuous water distribution and treatment while complying with all regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor water distribution and treatment equipment.
• Maintain and verify all required Massachusetts drinking water licenses.
• Perform hoisting operations and adhere to OSHA safety standards.
• Conduct backflow prevention checks and assist with water system surveys.
• Document operational data and report any irregularities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of experience in water distribution or treatment.
• Valid MA Class D motor vehicle operator’s license (Class B preferred).
• MA Grade II Distribution License and MA Grade I Treatment License.
• Current MA Drinking Water Licenses.
• Hoisting license (or obtain within six months of hire).
• CORI certification and successful completion of a pre‑employment physical and drug test.

• Full‑time schedule: 7 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday‑Friday (40 hrs/week) with occasional overtime.
• Union‑backed compensation: Grade 5, FY27 pay scale $27.71 – $36.02 per hour.
