Cyber Security Analyst (ISSO)

About the role

The Cyber Security Analyst (ISSO) maintains the operational security posture, continuous monitoring, and regulatory compliance of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems and coalition network environments. The role works closely with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM), system owners, and engineering teams to enforce DoD cybersecurity baselines throughout the system lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily security event reviews, log analysis, and system auditing across servers, network infrastructure, and operating systems; develop SPL queries and Splunk dashboards to detect anomalies.
• Operate and maintain ACAS/Tenable scanners, schedule credentialed scans, analyze results, and track remediation through POA&Ms.
• Administer Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) for endpoint compliance, policy enforcement, and reporting.
• Monitor enclave gateways, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and conduct Security Impact Analyses for system changes.
• Support end‑to‑end RMF activities in eMASS, maintain SSPs, continuous monitoring strategies, and ensure DISA STIG compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT or equivalent experience; 7+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience supporting DoD systems.
• Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance and eligibility to maintain Top Secret.
• DoD 8570.01‑M / DoD 8140 baseline certification meeting IAT Level III (e.g., CASP+, CISSP).

Required skills

• Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) – SPL query development, dashboards, alerts.
• Tenable ACAS with Nessus scanners – credentialed scanning, plugin management.
• Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) – agent deployment, policy tuning, compliance reporting.
• eMASS – system security plan maintenance, control assessment documentation, POA&M tracking.
• Implementation and remediation of DISA STIGs and SCAP benchmarks for Windows/Linux systems.
• NTP time synchronization and log integrity verification.
• Scripting experience (Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation.
