Driver – International Project Support

About the role

The Driver will provide safe and reliable transportation for FAO staff, visitors and project materials in Kyrgyzstan, supporting the “Carbon Sequestration through Climate Investment in Forests and Rangelands” project and other FAO activities.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the official project vehicle to transport authorized personnel, deliver and collect mail, documents and other items, and meet visitors at airports and handle visa/customs formalities.
• Maintain the vehicle daily, including minor repairs, oil changes, tire checks, washing and arranging major repairs, and keep accurate vehicle logs.
• Ensure all required documents and supplies are available, such as insurance, maps, first‑aid kit and spare parts.
• Assist with loading and unloading goods, coordinate logistics with Project Assistants, and support customs clearance procedures.
• Provide occasional photocopying, small procurement, document distribution and other ad‑hoc tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Completed high‑school diploma.
• Valid driver’s licence and at least three years of driving experience in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a clean safety record.
• Working knowledge of English (C1 level).
• National of Kyrgyz Republic or resident with a valid work permit.

Required skills

• Knowledge of local traffic rules, chauffeur protocol, defensive driving techniques and road conditions.
• Ability to perform minor vehicle repairs and arrange major maintenance.
• Familiarity with vehicle documentation, insurance and basic first‑aid supplies.
