Inside/Outside Cable Plant Technician II

About the role

Transform technology into opportunity as an Inside/Outside Cable Plant Technician II with GDIT. You will install, maintain and repair telecommunications systems on customer sites, ensuring reliable connectivity for critical missions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform installation, maintenance and repair of interior and exterior copper, coaxial and fiber optic cabling.
• Install ducts, conduits, cable ladders, cabinets, rack systems and associated distribution frames.
• Terminate, test, splice and certify cable runs, fiber optic modems, multiplex equipment and patch panels.
• Install lightning protection, grounding and power connections.
• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bobcats, cable reel trucks and forklifts.

Required profile

• AA/AS degree and at least 3 years of related cable plant experience.
• U.S. citizenship with a current Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).
• Intermediate proficiency with inside/outside cable plant work and heavy equipment operation.

Required skills

• Copper, coaxial and fiber optic cabling installation.
• Duct and conduit installation, cable pulling and termination.
• Testing, splicing and certification of cable systems.
• Installation of fiber optic modems, multiplex equipment and patch panels.
• Lightning protection and grounding installation.
• Cabinet, cable ladder and rack system installation.
• Operation of excavators, backhoes, bobcats, cable reel trucks and forklifts.
