Environmental Safeguards Specialist

About the role

SMEC is looking for an experienced Environmental Safeguards Specialist to join its consulting team for an upcoming Feasibility Study of an infrastructure project in the Solomon Islands. The specialist will assess potential environmental impacts and risks of the proposed project, support environmental due diligence and prepare the environmental safeguards documentation needed during project preparation.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent professional qualifications in environmental science, engineering, management or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental impact assessments for infrastructure projects financed by IFIs or international organizations.
• Experience in the project design and planning stage and in conducting environmental safeguards due diligence is an advantage.
• Fluent writing and speaking English is mandatory.
