Packaging Instrument Artisan

About the role

The Packaging Instrument Artisan is responsible for maintaining and improving control and automation equipment within a brewery environment. The role focuses on field instrumentation, networks, and manufacturing execution systems to ensure reliable and efficient packaging processes.

Key responsibilities

• Optimize and troubleshoot process control systems across the brewery.
• Support installation and commissioning of new control equipment.
• Interpret process specifications and implement modifications or optimisations.
• Identify and resolve control deviations, supporting change‑management procedures.
• Maintain equipment and software integrity, security, and preventive‑maintenance schedules.
• Coach trainees, apprentices and operators to build a sustainable skill pipeline.
• Perform standby duties and adhere to safety and health standards, including occasional shift work.

Required profile

• B.Eng or HND in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years experience in instrumentation maintenance and PLC work.
• Strong knowledge of process measurement devices (level, temperature, pressure, conductivity, pH) and calibration.
• Understanding of control system architecture, networking and data historian concepts.
• Problem‑solving mindset with ability to assess business impact of technical issues.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Level, temperature, pressure, conductivity and pH instrumentation.
• PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• SCADA and batch control systems.
• Fieldbus technologies (ASI, Profibus, CAN bus, industrial Ethernet).
• Data historian tools (SQL‑based).
• Preventive maintenance planning for control equipment.
