Senior Manager, Systems Engineering

About the role

SingleStore is looking for a Senior Manager to lead its Systems Engineering team responsible for data‑center operations, infrastructure reliability, and systems orchestration. The role blends people leadership with hands‑on technical work, guiding priorities while diving into architecture, troubleshooting, and incident response when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day engineering operations for data‑center and infrastructure systems, ensuring reliability and maintainability.
• Manage and mentor a small team of systems engineers while staying technically engaged in architecture reviews and high‑priority work.
• Own core infrastructure domains—compute, storage, networking, and orchestration—to create a coherent operating environment.
• Drive improvements in hardware reliability, installation standards, maintenance planning, and lifecycle management.
• Design and continuously improve provisioning, configuration management, and automation workflows.
• Coordinate activities with internal partners, contractors, and vendors to meet operational standards.
• Oversee incident response, root‑cause analysis, and systemic reliability enhancements.
• Enforce engineering discipline around task tracking, documentation, and work categorization.
• Partner with adjacent teams to integrate shared infrastructure and improve system‑health visibility.
• Contribute to hiring, interview processes, and team‑building initiatives.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure software, or platform engineering with deep technical expertise.
• 2+ years of experience leading engineers or technical teams in a manager or player‑coach capacity.
• Proven ability to operate and improve large‑scale data‑center infrastructure.
